#myessentials with Myeisha Boyd

Myeisha Boyd | Graduate Public Administration Student

Because I am a first generation college student in my family, my goals are helping people who are struggling to learn in better environments.

Since I was born and raised in a smaller city in Connecticut, I had a dream of living in a big city like New York. As a young girl, I was sensitive to fashion, makeup, and all sources of beauty trends. While I was following fashion trends on social media, Micahel Kors caught my eye. The brand has all bags for all occasions. I could buy any bags for party, work, date, picnic, etc.

From simple to extravagant, I use fashion to express myself. My fashion style changes by the occasion. When  I go to work, I prefer to wear something simple and chic with neutral colors. However, when I go out with friends or on dates, I prefer to dress up and wear lots of statement jewelry. Living in New York has changed me –  I work like a Boss in the day time, and I enjoy the nights with friends like a Queen.

When I started work in New York, I found myself passionate about impacting education, women, and politics. Because I am a first generation college student in my family, my goals are helping people who are struggling to learn in better environments. Seated shoulder to shoulder, women of all ages scribble furiously on legal pads, the glow of Macbooks illuminating their faces. This is what I do for my work. I am working to develop strategic partnerships, equity, diversity & inclusion, and event planning.

My Essentials:

Hand sanitizer

A must item for true New Yorkers. Must sanitize my hands all the time!

Handbag Warranty Card

I like to keep this in my bag so I can refer back to the model and style of the bag easily.

Calendar/Notebook

Writing is a crucial part of my life, and I love to document things I see and hear.

Lip Gloss

It’s the one makeup item I always bring. My lipgloss is hot, my lipgloss be poppin!!

I’ve had this bag for about 5 years now and I love it, but wish it had a matching pouch or a little wallet. I need supplementary items that match with my bag. My bag signals where I am heading. If I am wearing glittery bags, it means I am going on a date. If I am carrying a neutral color bag, it means I am going on a meeting and work.
